The Battle of Bull run historical took place in Manassass. However, for reenactment purposes the battery traveled to the battlefield of Cedar Creek, VA for this reenactment. With Union troops pitched in and around picturesque Bellevue Mansion, our task was to traverse the more than a mile spread across rocky farmland to engage the enemy opposite our field.
Battery C saw three days of enagement with Confederate forces in this reenactment. Fire was hot and so was the weather - creating daily thunderstorms to keep spirits fresh.
The battery fired 95 rounds with no misfires. Furthermore, engagement orders called for advance by prolong across rough and rocky terrain; (prolong entailing the fastening of stout rope to our gun and a full unit of strong men to pull the gun into position).
We look forward to our next Battle of Bull Run!
