The Battle of Cedar Creek is perhaps the most important reenactment for Battery C. Not only did the original battery perform valiantly in a vital role that led to the suppression of confederate advances north, but it was also our last engagement as Battery C. Suffering heavy losses, the battery was mustered out of service with many surviving members joing Battery G following the battle. The Battle of Cedar Creek is our "swan song."
The battery spent three days on the historical the Cedar Creek battlefield. We were located in various positions along front lines and in support of reinforcing union troops. Initially overrun by confederate forces, we rallied at the end of the battle in a valiant eventual victory!
Our gun fired 112 rounds with no misfires. Although overun along the ridge on the first day, we were repositioned along the gulley of the creek on day two. With support from Sheridan on day two - we rallied and were able to push back confederate forces in our last valiant stand as Battery C.
We look forward to the next Battle of Cedar Creek this coming October.
