A historical landmark of note, the Sprague Mansion hosts a Civil War weekend in homage to Rhode Island's history and is held on the ground of Governor Sprague's estate - governor during the Civil War. The weekend is a mix of encampment and firing demonstations from both artillery and infantry units.
The battery held active displays of the mechanics behind the 10 pd Parrott, as well drill and firing demonstrations.
Part of the public outreach we do as a battery is educating the community. This weekend is such a weekend. We look to involve the public not only on historical information behind the gun and unit, but also active participation in drill and camp life. Reenacting is a mix of knowledge, history and passion.
We look forward to the next Sprague Mansion event.
